Al Michaels was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI in Santa Monica, California, on Friday night. Sgt. Ryan Gradle said Michaels, the current play-by-play announcer for NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” was extremely cooperative.
The sportscaster was arrested shortly before 10 p.m., then spent a little more than five hours in the Santa Monica City Jail, the Los Angeles Inmate Information Center said.
Michaels, 68, was just over the state’s legal limit of .08 — he blew a .08 and .09 in two breathalyzer tests following a field sobriety test.
“We are aware of the situation,” NBC said in a public statement. “We have been in contact with Al. We have no further comment at this time.”
Michaels is scheduled to appear at Los Angeles Municipal Court at 8:30 a.m. on June 26.
