Brady Quinn Apologizes To QB Tim Tebow

Brady Quinn Tim Tebow – Tim Tebow gets slammed by Brady Quinn during a GQ interview.

The Denver Bronco’s back-up quarterback let his feelings be known about being past over for his colleague. He made the comments in the most recent issue of GQ magazine, about how he thought he was the second string quarterback before Tebow, but because of fan pressure and a Tebow billboard, he was past over.

“Early in the season, there was a game when Kyle (Orton) got hurt and the coaches were calling for me to go in, but Kyle got up and finished the game out. So I was the second-string guy. Then, a few weeks later, they decided to put Tim in,” Quinn said. “I felt like the fans had a lot to do with that. Just ’cause they were chanting his name. There was a big calling for him. No, I didn’t have any billboards. That would have been nice.”

He also would not cave to the Tebow mania that followed that saw the Bronco’s go on a run to make the playoffs, but rather said the team got ‘lucky.’

“The entire game, the defensive line is chasing the quarterback around, and that wears down the pass rush. Meanwhile, the defensive backs are chasing receivers, but you only throw eight passes, so they start to feel lazy. It only takes that one play, that one big pass, for a touchdown. We’ve had a lot of, I guess, luck, to put it simply,” said Quinn.

Now after apparently ruffling some feathers with the comments, Quinn issued an apology via the Denver Post on Tuesday.

Quinn stated, “I regret the comments as they appeared in the article and I apologize if the comments that were in the article upset anyone. I think they were taken in the wrong tone. Had I known at the time the direction the article was going to go I would not have participated in the interview at all. The interview took place three months ago. However, there’s no one to blame but myself. I take full responsibility.”
