Breeders Cup Results In Books For 2011

Breeders Cup Results – Another year at the Breeders’ Cup is in the books. The 2011 Breeders’ Cup was an event full of surprises. Here are some of the biggest surprises of the event that probably went unnoticed to the general public.

We all know what happened in the Classic, with Drosselmeyer ($31.60) storming down the stretch to overtake Game On Dude for jockey Mike Smith’s 15th Breeders’ Cup victory.

But what about other surprises that should have caught your eye? Like the biggest surprise of all: At 60-1, Court Vision was the second highest payoff ($131.60) in Breeders’ Cup history. Goldikova was expected to win the Mile with relative ease because she won four straight.

Court Vision had other ideas, stealing the victory in shocking fashion.

Afleet Again ($85.20) opened Saturday’s program with a surprise that got the day started. Afleet Again won the Cup Marathon at 41-1 odds.

Drosselmeyer ($31.60); Wrote ($25.20); Amazombie ($17.80) and Hansen ($16.20) were the rest of the major surprises.

Horse racing was at the forefront of the sports world on Saturday. As we waited around for the five million dollar Classic, other events were just as intriguing.

We almost saw the first woman to ever win a Breeders’ Cup Classic. We saw Joseph O’Brien win a Breeders’ Cup victory, the youngest (18 yrs) to win at the competition.

Even though Drosselmeyer will be the horse most will remember because of the Classic, horse racing fans alike will remember just how special of a day this was.
