Dan Marino had an affair and fathered a 7-year-old girl with Donna Savattere, a former CBS colleague, and paid her millions to keep it quiet. The story appeared in the New York Post, which cited anonymous sources.
The Post said Savattere agreed to move to Texas as part of the deal.
Marino, 51, has six children with his wife, Claire, four biological kids and two adopted.
Marino, who has been married for more than 20 years, acknowledged the child in a statement to the newspaper.
“This is a personal and private matter,” the statement said. “I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then. We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved.”
Marino said in his statement to The Post that his marriage remains intact.
“My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years and have six children together,” the statement said. “And we continue to be a strong and loving family.”
Savattere was a 35-year-old production assistant at CBS Sports in New York at the time of the affair and gave birth in June 2005.
