Joe Paterno is “near death,” the Wilkes-Barre Citizens’ Voice reports, and insiders say that the Former Penn State head coach doesn’t have much time to live.
Paterno’s wife, Sue, asked a group of close friends and longtime staff members to come to the State College hospital on Saturday where Joe has been undergoing treatments since last weekend.
Paterno wanted to see them all and say his final goodbye, Sue told one of the staff members, a source said.
Paterno has lung cancer and was admitted to the hospital last week. He was fired from his job in November for failing to do to enough to address the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal.
It’s important to note that not all newspapers or television stations in Pennsylvania, especially the reliable sources of Penn State News, have any news on this yet and have taken it with a grain of salt.
We don’t want to be wrong when it comes to reports like this, especially when someone is dying, but there are so many variations of the report that we felt that it was necessary to mention it.
Paterno was, of course, a legendary coach. His legacy will be hit with tremendous complications by the scandal.
