Kerri Walsh and husband Casey Jennings that they are expecting third third child. Walsh told the Today show that she was pregnant during the London Olympics. She spoke exclusively to NBC about her ordeal.
“About a month and a half ago, we did something great in London. You were able to share it with us; we felt so much love from our NBC family and from everyone at home. So Casey and I wanted to come on here with you guys today and share some other news — when I was throwing my body around fearlessly and going for gold for our country, I was pregnant. And today I’m 11 weeks pregnant and feelin’ … pregnant,” says Walsh.
Three must be a lucky number for the beach volleyball superstar, who has also won three Olympic gold medals.
“I thought it could have been the stress of the games and travel throws your schedule off,” Walsh explains. “At some point, you’re late and then you start feeling something. And I definitely started feeling something in London.”
Walsh and husband began trying to conceive prior to leaving for London, they figured that it would take some time. However, Kerri ended up playing for the gold with partner Misty May-Treanor when she was five weeks along.
The new baby is due on April 9; the couple already has two sons Joseph, 3, and Sundance, 2.
