LeBron James has done a lot of things to prompt attention in the sports world, but now he has something else to tout after he shaves his head. James made a last-minute decision to be bald, and his head is shining.
At the age of 28, the Miami Heat player has decided to rock the clean-shaven dome look. Cork Gaines of Business Insider noticed the fresh look from the reigning MVP while on his “Witness History Tour” in the Philippines. Andy Gray of Sports Illustrated tweeted out the pic.
While the new look may look like the work of a very skilled photoshopper, it’s not. The LeBron Nation Twitter account tweeted out the difference between fake photos that have surfaced and the real deal.
James has proven over the last two seasons that he’s the game’s best player by destroying defenders and winning titles, but, as Piers Morgan points out, his receding hairline was the one opponent he just couldn’t shake.
Unfortunately for those that love to hate the former Cleveland Cavalier, the sharp look leaves his detractors with one less thing to make fun of the King for. Along with his two titles, nearly everything that he could have been made fun of has been taken care of.
Of course, his common use of theatrics to get to the free-throw line is bound to remain a target for those that don’t like “The King.”
But ultimately, as Gregg Doyel of CBS Sports points out, none of this really matters.
Whether LeBron has a receding hairline, a bald head or the flowing locks of Anderson Varejao he’s still the game’s best player. After a season in which he averaged 26.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game with a second NBA title to put on his mantel, that’s a fact that can hardly be disputed.
