Riley Cooper receives threatening tweets after his racial slur video went public, and he’s been getting a lot more attention than he thought. Cooper started the mess after attending a Kenny Chesney concert.

The Philadelphia Eagles made the statement, “I will jump that fence and fight ever Nig- here bro,” to a black security guard.

On Sunday, the NFL team said that Riley informed the club of the threats and did not know who made them.

“Riley Cooper made us aware of the tweets when the video became public,” the team said in a statement. “He told us that he did not know about the video. He informed us he blocked the tweets because he did not know the person nor understand the context of what that person was threatening.”

The league’s security department has since been informed of the threatening tweets.

“We promptly alerted NFL security. This information potentially speaks to a legal issue that is a matter between Riley and the authorities. Our focus has been on Riley’s words and actions.”

Cooper has publicly apologized numerous times since the video was made public.
