Romeo Crennel – He received his wish of becoming the head coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, and the team couldn’t be happier to have him, as he was offered the job to finish their 3 remaining games of the season after the NFL organization dismissed Todd Haley.
As the intern head coach, he rallied his players to win their first game, with him by their side, against the previously undefeated Green Bay Packers 19-14. This was compelling because it ruined the Packers’ chances of having a perfect season. He completed his coaching internship with a 2-1 record and on January 9, he received the head coach position, not too bad to less than five weeks of being an intern.
Scott Pioli, the Chiefs general manager has commented about how critical it is to keep Crennel working with the team in order to have respect and accountability among them.
In addition, he talked about how Romeo is a perfect fit for Kansas City due to his comprehensive, knowledge of what the team really needs.
This is his second shot at having his own NFL team, from 2005 through 2008; he was the head coach for the Cleveland Browns. The team fired him following a disappointing 4-12 season. His overall record with the team was 24-40.
