New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker is getting married this weekend, but that didn’t stop him and his friends from being ‘tackled’ at a Aspen, CO restaurant by security known as Above the Salt last Friday.
Apparently, friends allegedly got into a physical altercation with the bouncers. According to the NY Post, Welker and a few of his pals hit up the Patron-sponsored Summerology event at Above the Salt restaurant — part of the Aspen Food & Wine Classic.
Welker and his boys reportedly tried to rush inside the event without checking in with the door people … so security stepped in and physically restrained the Super Bowl receiver.
This is what started the tensions because his crew was upset — and sources tell the Post, anger was was running so high, a fight nearly ensued.
According to the Post, cops responded to the scene and booted Welker’s group from the property.
As for why Welker’s in Aspen — he’s scheduled to marry his fiancee Anna Burns in Aspen this weekend.
New England fans might remember Welker for the famous dropped pass during Super Bowl XLVI.
Boys will be boys and some NFL fans say they are tired of players thinking they are above everyone else when they are off the field.
