Amazon.com Inc has launched a new Game Downloads store which features a variety of casual titles for personal computers. PC users can browse through over 600 games which are priced under $10 each. The store could expand to other platforms including the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and portable devices but would depend on demand.
"Loaded with an ever-growing roster of casual gaming titles for your PC, the Amazon Game Downloads store features more than 600 games on day one, all priced under a tenspot at either $6.99 or $9.99," company officials said on its official blog.
All games in the store offer a free 30-minute trial which is very enticing. We tried a few and can report the downloads system and the trial worked flawlessly. At the end of a video game, it will shut down and prompt you to purchase it on Amazon's Web site.
Moreover, the online game store is giving away three video games for visiting its download games section. The game titles are Jewel Quest 2, The Scruffs, and Build A Lot. The three games are the full commercial version.
"If you miss out on this launch offer, not to worry – every game in our store is available for a free 30-minute trial. We could tell you loads more about the range of games, and all the standard Amazon features you'd expect, but instead we'll just say this: go play!," the company said on its Web site.
Amazon hopes to build its Game Downloads store over time, depending on the demand. It is a new service and so far the prices are from $6.99 to $9.99. The store is definitely a convenience and while it's in beta, it already offers a wide variety of casual games.
