Apple Inc has updated its release of Mac OS X Leopard to version 10.5.3. The latest Mac release includes several updates in the 420 MB package.
Apple says the 10.5.3 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that noticeably enhance the stability, compatibility and security for the Mac.
The company also recommends that Mac owners back up their systems prior to installing the update.
The installation process should not be interrupted, even if the progress bar remains unchanged for several minutes. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer from Apple Support Downloads to update.
Apple Mac owners may experience unexpected results if third-party system software modifications are installed, or if the operating system was changed through another means.
There is also a kernel performance fix, according to Apple. Other areas include iCal, iChat, Audio Applications, Video Applications, 802.1X, Active Directory/Directory Services, AirPort, Graphics, Installer, Mail, Spaces, Time Machine and VoiceOver.
