Apple Inc is expected to surprise investors by unveiling a new laptop design for its MacBook computers. The business technology company will unleash the new Macintosh notebook on Tuesday. The gathering will take place at Apple headquarters in northern California.

Macintosh computers still remain a distant second place to Windows PCs. However, the Apple Mac has been gaining market share. Analysts say the popularity of its iPod media players and its iPhones have attracted consumers to buy its Mac computers.

There are unconfirmed reports that the business technology company might reduce its premium prices for the new MacBook models. Some analysts believe that Apple will announce a starting price of $800, far below its current price of $1,100. Moreover, the company is shifting from plastic notebook casings to a more eco-friendly aluminum.

As for the new design, it is believed that the company will make its MacBook Pro line of laptops thinner. Analysts believe that Apple will follow its successful MacBook Air approach which is thin and has a more industrial design.
