Apple iTunes Now Offers HD Programming

Apple Inc announced on Thursday the availability of HD programming on iTunes. The Apple iTunes Store now offers various shows from ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox. Other networks include the Sci-Fi Channel, Comedy Central and the USA Network.
Apple Inc on Thursday announced the availability of extended HD programming on Apple iTunes. The store is offering high-definition television shows for $2.99 per episode.
"We've got an incredible Fall 2008 TV lineup with over 70 prime-time comedies and dramas, including many of the most popular shows on TV in stunning HD," said Apple's VP for Internet Services Eddy Cue, in a statement.
Apple iTunes now carries more than 70 prime-time shows from a variety of networks such as Sci-Fi, Comedy Central, Bravo, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and others. Surprisingly, even HBO and Showtime are now on iTunes.
The Apple iTunes store has sold over 200 million episodes. The company says the number of shows have proven that consumers love watching TV on their computer and mobile devices such as the iPod and iPhone.
