Mario Kart Wii Coming April 27

Mario Kart Wii has been announced by Nintendo with a release date of April 27. The Wii game supports up to 12 players over the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection or four-player local split screen.

The game will come packaged with a Wii Wheel controller and will include 16 new race courses as well as 16 legacy courses from its previous Kart games.

For the first time ever, players have the option of racing with either karts or motorbikes. Players can also hit the road as their personalized Mii caricatures in addition to the handful of classic Nintendo characters found in the game.

You can purchase additional Wii wheels or use one of the four control options: Wii Remote with or without the Wii Wheel, Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller combo, Classic Controller and even the Nintendo GameCube controller.

Mario Kart has sold over 200 million games worlwide since it first appeared in 1992. The game features Nintendo characters Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario, Bowser and Toad. The most recent installment of the game was Mario Kart DS for the Nintendo DS portable system.

Nintendo is also adding The Mario Kart Wii Channel to the Wii Menu which will let players to compete in tournaments, check worldwide rankings, see when their friends are playing and download ghost data.
