Microsoft plans to release Visual Studio 2008

Microsoft said the new generation of initial development tools will ship this month along with the new .Net Framework 3.5 technology. The new set of development tools will enable developers to build more compelling applications for end-users than ever before.

Visual Studio 2008 will feature the new release of Popfly explorer, the new social network technology which combines a reusable tool set to build mashops, gadgets, advanced Web pages and applications.

There are new tool sets for connected applications to build user experiences for Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, the 2007 Microsoft Office system, mobile devices and the Web. Seamless integration of the familiar ASP.NET AJAX programming model enables more efficient client-side execution, giving end users a more responsive Web interface.

Xerox was part of Microsoft’s early adopter program and have had early success developing applications with the new tools. The international company has seen significant advantages from using Visual Studio Team System 2008 and the new .NET Framework 3.5 actively allowing them to retain 50 percent of the precious time and money it would cost using other development tools.

Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) is fully integrated into Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition. Developers can now customize various Office applications, such as Outlook and PowerPoint, to improve user productivity and simplify deployment.
