Microsoft Corp has confirmed plans to release service pack 2 for Windows Vista in 2009. The update will include major enhancements and bug fixes to previous versions of VIsta.
Vista service pack 2 will address all bugs since SP1. There is added support for Blu-ray drives and Wi-Fi connectivity. Microsoft has improved the Wi-Fi setup and made changes to Windows Connect Now. The new service pack will also include Bluetooth 2.1.
"Because we've adopted a single serviceability model, these improvements are integrated into a single service pack covering both Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 versions," Windows executive Mike Nash said in a statement.
The new Windows Vista Service Pack 2 will use zone-safe file synchronization with added support for the exFAT file system. The file system allows for UTC time stamps. Vista will also include Windows Search 4 which is the latest version of the Microsoft desktop search technology.
Microsoft Vista SP2 will release during the first half of 2009.
