Netflix movie ratings are now ready for use on the Facebook social networking site. The new feature lets members share more from their online profiles with a new integration between the two online Web sites.
Netflix Inc and Facebook Inc have partnered to extend online services such as film ratings for social network members. The new Facebook Connect unification lets users rate movies and offering comments. The new characteristic enables users to learn more about a specific movie before making the decision to rent from Netflix.
"Movies make for great conversations," said Gibson Biddle, vice president of product management for Netflix. "By integrating with Facebook Connect, Netflix members can now share their movie-watching experiences even more easily than before, allowing for greater exchange of movie recommendations with their friends."
Facebook users can share their personal movie ratings. The new Netflix sharing feature is part of a new service integration between the two Web sites. Other features include comments and full blog-type discussions.
Netflix movie ratings on Facebook are easy to share, and it allows linked friends to make comments. Some comments could include responses to a rating. Moreover, the ratings and posts will also tie back to Netflix's film pages.
"Netflix is a clear leader in bringing innovation to renting, viewing and engaging around movies," said Ethan Beard, director of platform marketing, Facebook. "We think the social features in Facebook Connect provide a tremendous opportunity for Netflix subscribers to share their thoughts and feelings on movies with their friends in the Netflix community and with Facebook's more than 175 million active users."
The film rating integration between Netflix and Facebook is easy. Users can click on the "Connect" button from the Netflix member profile page to combine their personal ratings with Facebook. Upon connecting, each member will have the option of combining all future film ratings to their Facebook profile page.
Movie ratings will begin showing on Facebook with publishing tools on a case-by-case basis. It is a good opportunity for members to find out details or opinions about a movie directly from their connected friends. The feature is great and will probably be one of the most used sharing features on Facebook.
