Samsung Reaches Agreement With Netflix To Stream HD Blu-ray Movies

Samsung reached an agreement with Netflix to stream Blu-ray movies. Netflix will stream the content from the Internet to television sets through Samsung devices. The two business technology companies will also include new products that can play movies in the high-definition Blu-ray format.

Samsung and Netflix are launching a new Internet video service to stream high-definition Blu-ray movies. The new Samsung products will connect users to the Internet to download Netflix software. Netflix currently has more than 12,000 movies and television shows online.

Netflix Inc on Tuesday announced that its movie rental service will be embedded into the next generation Blu-ray DVD player made by Samsung Electronics Co. Netflix also has a deal with LG Electronics Inc to stream movie rentals online to subscribers.

The new partnership between Netflix and Samsung will offer a range of home entertainment products for high-definition movie streaming. Netflix Internet streaming will be offered through Samsung's BD-P2550 and BD-P2500 Blu-ray players. The Blu-ray players are priced at $399.99.

Netflix offers more than 12,000 movies and television shows online.

The new Samsung products will connect Netfix subscribers to the Internet to download new software for the movie streaming service. Future Blu-ray players will have Netflix access built in.

Netflix has struck similar deals to offer Internet movies on other devices that include a Blu-ray DVD player by LG Electronics Inc. In addition, the company offers streaming through Microsoft Corp's Xbox 360 video game console and a set-top box manufactured by a startup Roku Inc.
