Microsoft Silverlight 2.0 Offers High Resolution Capabilities

Microsoft released version 2.0 of its Silverlight software last month. The upgrade offers changes for both developers and the user. The new software release is available through Windows update.

The new version is Microsoft's answer to Adobe Flash. The software company urges users who have the product install to upgrade. The upgrade process should be seamless as it will use the automatic update.

Microsoft Corp announced further details of its new version of Silverlight. The new version has changes for both developer and users. The business technology company urges all users of Silverlight to upgrade the product.

Silverlight 2.0 is already available through Windows automatic update. The updater should make the upgrade process seamless.

The new Silverlight upgrade is Microsoft's answer to Adobe Flash. Silverlight 2.0 offers a new addition of Silverlight DRM. It is powered by Microsoft's own PlayReady digital-rights-management software. The software giant said it will offer a robust content protection solution.

The new release also includes new options to customize the look and feel of a site. It will also allow users to zoom in on high-resolution imagery. New support for Web browsers includes Apple Mac Safari, Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer, Linux, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.

Microsoft also said there is new supported for networking services such as the .NET expanded framework. Other supports include REST, WS*/SOAP, POX, RSS and standard HTTP services.

New streaming and progressive download capabilities are also added to the new version of Silverlight.
