Toshiba Recall for Satellite Laptops

Toshiba recall for Satellite laptops. Toshiba has issued a recall of 41,000 Satellite laptop computers due to a potential burn hazard. Toshiba is the latest laptop vendor to fall victim to overheating technology.

Laptop models include the Satellite T-series model. The computers can overheat and melt the plastic base around the input for the AC adapter. The exact models include T123, T135D and Pro T130.

They laptops were sold in the beginning of August in 2009. The recalled computers were sold in the US and Canada. There have been 129 reports of excessive heat or smoke in the US and 14 in Canada for the 41,000 devices sold.

Mike Lucas, senior vice president of Vaio for Sony, stated “In rare instances, these notebook computers may overheat due to a potential malfunction of the internal temperature management system, resulting in deformation of the product’s keyboard or external casing, and a potential burn hazard to consumers.”
