Nintendo offers little hope for Wii shoppers

Nintendo of America says to expect massive shortages of its Wii video game console this holiday season. The company simply can’t meet the demand.

Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, says the company sold out of the Wii console worldwide since the launch. Fils-Aime admits that the company isn’t even close on understanding where the threshold is between supply and demand.

Nintendo Wii is out-selling every game console, beating the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 worldwide. Nintendo is beating the competition 3-1 in Japan.

Fils-Aime says that as they ship product to retailers, they are already backlogged on meeting demand.

Nintendo’s stock has more than doubled this year.
