America’s Favorite Casual Restaurant Chains – In an annual survey, America’s best five favorite casual dining restaurant chains have been listed. The annual report is conducted by Market Force Information, which is a worldwide leader in customer intelligence and customer experience management solutions. The survey was conducted in August and involved more then 4,500 consumers across America.
America’s number 1 casual dinning restaurant according to the survey, for the second consecutive year, was “The Cheesecake Factory.” known for its extensive menu and cheesecake options, has landed in the survey’s top spot. With a selection of more than 200 items, including 50 dessert options, and plates so generous almost everyone leaves with a doggie bag. The Cheesecake Factory ranked a clear first earning 7.3% of the vote share, more than double of the 2nd place finisher.
With 3.2% of the consumer vote the second place finisher was “Texas Roadhouse.” They specialize in steaks and promote a western theme. The chain operates about 320 locations in 46 states as of July 2009. It is also known for its free buckets of the best peanuts at each table.
Coming in third was the “Olive Garden” restaurant with 2.8% of the vote. Olive Garden serves Italian-American cuisine including pasta dishes, steaks and salads. The company heavily advertises its bread stick product and centers its lunch menu around it. The menu is developed at its Tuscany Institute in Italy and is inspired by the local cuisine in the region.
“P.F. Changs” was the number 4 selection up from its number 7 ranking last year. The Chinese Bistro ranked high even though it lacked in other area’s. When it came to quality of food, only Red Robin scored worse. PF Chang’s was also considered the least kid-friendly eatery, and came in second to last for atmosphere.
At number 5 was “Carrabba’s Italian Grill.” The chain was founded on December 26, 1986 by Johnny Carrabba and his uncle Damian Mandola. Many of the recipes for the dishes on Carrabba’s menu are those of Damian’s mother Grace and his sister Rose, who currently still work at the Woodway/Voss location in Houston. This year, it rated highest for casual atmosphere, scored second best in America’s overall value, and speed of service categories after Applebee’s in both instances.
