The JetBlue Airline Pilot’s wife talks about her husband’s frightening behavior and is focusing on Clayton Osbon’s recovery.
Connye Osbon, the wife of Pilot Clayton Osbon who caused an emergency landing of a JetBlue flight heading to Las Vegas last Tuesday, stated that “her family is focusing on his recovery and will not be giving interviews.”
Co-pilot Jason Dowd thought it would be best to lock Osbon out of the cockpit as he became increasingly incoherent on the flight leaving from New York. Then, the passengers restrained him as Dowd made an emergency landing in Texas.
Clayton’s wife is very gracious of the crew and passengers who were on the flight for the “effective yet compassionate handling of the situation.”
On Sunday, the pilot’s family released a statement and posted on the JetBlue website stating, “It is our belief, as Clayton’s family, that while he was clearly distressed, he was not intentionally violent toward anyone. We know you were placed in an awful situation, and we appreciate your ability to respond professionally.”
In addition, she thanked the staff and doctors at the Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, “as well as the many friends, coworkers, and loved ones who have reached out to us to wish Clayton well during this challenging time.”
