$336 Million Powerball Jackpot – Rhode Island state lottery officials announced that the lone ticket sold in the PowerBall $336 million jackpot was bought at a Stop and Shop in Newport.
The winner of the $336.4 million jackpot has not come forward yet, officials stated on Monday. When and if the winner comes forward, they will have the option to take a one lump-sum payment before taxes of $210 million, or they can take annuity payments for the next 30 years.
“The jackpot is the sixth largest in US history,” lottery spokeswoman Melissa Juhnowski said.
The winning numbers were 1-10-37-52-57, Powerball 11.
In some instances, retailers get a percentage bonus for selling the victorious tickets. However, the Stop and Shop retailer opted to take an 8 cent cut of each ticket sold in its stores. The state of Rhode Island will receive $12 million in tax money from the jackpot total.
Since last month a ticket for one PowerBall play in the 42 states that it is played in, rose from $1 to $2 and the opening grand prize following a drawing of winning numbers is guaranteed to be $40 million. In addition, each sequential jackpot drawing where the winning numbers were not drawn in the previous drawing is guaranteed to rise at least $5 million each time.
Drawings are made every Wednesday and Saturday Night.
