Fairfax County police made an arrest in the recent death of a football player from Ferrum College in southwestern Virginia.
On Friday, Zavier O. Stringfellow was found in a minivan in the Vienna area fatally stabbed. The 19-year-old was a sophomore business major at the private college.
Authorities have arrested Johnny Bonilla, 22, a resident of Gainesville, in the death of Stringfellow. Police say the Ferrum student was stabbed during a meeting with Bonilla.
Stringfellow was a high-school student and football player at Battlefield High School in Haymarket. When he graduated, he began attending Ferrum College, a private school where was a defensive end.
His coach, Dave Harper, told WTOP-FM that Stringfellow was well-liked and had a good attitude.
Bonilla’s family has declined to comment.
