A baby in Georgia was shot dead while he was sitting in his stroller by two men asking for money.
Sherry West was walking with her 13-month-old son, Antonio Santiago, when two males approached her and asked her for money.
The mother states: “And he kept asking, and I just said, ‘I don’t have it.’ And he said, ‘Do you want me to kill your baby?’ And I said, ‘No, don’t kill my baby!'” she said.
West feels confident that the teenage she identified was the shooter. However, the boy’s family claims that he was with them during the time if the shooting.
“That’s definitely him,” Sherry West said Saturday when she saw the jail mugshot of De’Marquise Elkins, 17. In addition, police arrested a 14-year-old who they will not be identified due to his age.
“We’re trying to determine which one actually was the shooter,” police spokesman Todd Rhodes said Saturday.
West is confident that the gunman was the older suspect. “He killed my baby, and he shot me, too,” she said.
During the 911 call, a woman tells the operator: “No, the baby’s not breathing.” He says the child was shot “right between the eyes.”
