Cheerleader coach Nicole Kurowski faces sex charges after her sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy was discovered. Police were notified by school officials, which led to an investigation that busted the teacher and student. Kurowski could be jailed if convicted.
Kurowski, 27, is accused of having sex with the unnamed 17-year-old several times during school hours over the past year. An investigation began after school officials got a tip the two were sexually involved. Cops say they spoke on the phone daily and exchanged explicit text messages.
They were careful not to get caught, meeting for some trysts in an inconspicuous area near a nursing home.
“She was an employee for us for two years as a physical education teacher and cheerleading coach,” district superintendent Ed Albert told CBS News.
Kurowski was charged with institutional sexual assault and has been released on $25,000 unsecured bail. She is now suspended without pay. The coach worked at the school for two years and taught physical education, in addition to serving as cheerleading coach.
“I got the tip and I immediately got on the phone with the school board president and our solicitor. I take this matter very seriously,” Albert said.
