Last summer when a severe storm scared a family dog she ran away, she was just now located 2800 miles from home. The dog a black lab mix, named Pollux escaped her back yard in Montreal during the storm. The Robitailles family searched for her for several days, but soon realized their pet was gone for good, so they thought.
However, luckily the dog had an implanted microchip that when scanned tells a vet info such as who the dog belongs to. She was found in Kamloops, B.C., 2800 miles away when she was taken into a vet for treatment. And the scan revealed she belonged to Isabelle Robitaille in Montreal.
“We’re like, ‘Oh, my God. Are you kidding me?’” Robitaille told Kamloops This Week when asked about her reaction to the news Pollux had been found in good health. “Everybody here is so excited. She’s going to eat a great big T-bone.”
Nobody is quite sure how the dog made it so far only Pollux knows that. Speculation for the long-distance trip is that the dog either jumped on a train or was picked up by a family or truck driver and hauled to Kamloops. The family that was caring for her in Kamloops re-named her Suki.
The 9-year-old dog is to be flown back to the Isabelle Robitaille family Thursday, thanks to donations to the SPCA, The (Vancouver) Province reported Wednesday.
