George Zimmerman Autograph For Defense Fund

George Zimmerman is now trying to raise more funds for his defense and legal fees by giving out his autograph. It’s not often that someone who is charged with killing an unarmed Trayvon Martin is making such a desperate attempt to collect money.

In a new fundraising effort, he is hoping to entice his supporters to give donations to his George Zimmerman Defense Fund, with his autograph, to pay for his legal fees in connection to the Martin case.

According to Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, the old Zimmerman fund that was set up in May brought in donations totaling a little more than $140,000, but is now all but gone.

“Currently, the balance of the George Zimmerman Defense Fund is at its lowest, and new funds must be raised to support George’s living expenses and legal costs,” according to a post made by O’Mara on Zimmerman’s official website.

Zimmerman will be offering thank you cards personally signed by himself to sympathisers in hopes to gain the donations, he needs to raise more funds.

Back on February 26th, Zimmerman encountered 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, an African American, walking through his community, while on his neighborhood watch rounds, and after there had been a string of burglaries in the community by a suspected African-American male.

While carrying a handgun, Zimmerman confronted Martin, who allegedly had cut through the neighborhood to get to a convenience store, an argument broke out that turned physical. Zimmerman pulled his gun and as the two struggled, it went off killing Martin.

Currently, Zimmerman is out of jail on a $1 million bond and faces a second-degree murder charge. The trial is expected to begin next June.
