Hair Donation Oil Spill

Hair can help clean up the oil spill. Donations of human hair are in high demand to clean the oil spill. Everyone should donate to this cause by having your hair cut today.
Natural Booms Tied Together
The ecological charity Matter of Trust is taking in contributions of human hair. These Volunteers take the donated loose hair and stuff it into nylon stockings, which are then doubled up and tied together to make booms that can be used to surround, contain and soak up the oil leak. What a great way to put something usually thrown away to good use.
Donors and Volunteers
Every couple of days about 500,000 pounds come into boom-making locations in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida according to the trust. These locations receive hair from donors all over the United States, Canada and beyond. These wonderful volunteers then hand-pack what looks like large, hair-stuffed nylon sausages to help the environment.
