Police in Phoenix have arrested actor Jermaine “Huggy” Hopkins on drug charges. The actor now 38-years-old is best known for his role of ‘Sams’ in the movie “Lean on Me’ when he was 14-years-old.
Police say Hopkins tried to negotiate a deal for 200 pounds of marijuana with a undercover detective in what was a sting operation this past Tuesday and was then taken into custody.
Jermaine was in in his SUV and after a search of the vehicle the 200 pounds of pot and $100,000 was found. In a search of his home authorities found another 100 lbs. of the drug worth $50.000.
Hopkins is now being held on $35,000 bond on suspicion of two felony counts of possessing, transporting and trying to sell marijuana.
According the report the actor made his permanent residence in North Carolina but ran his drug business in Arizona.
Jermain Huggy Hopkins was last seen on the big screen in “Cash Rules” in 2008.
