The Duke of Edinburgh has been at the specialist heart hospital since Dec 23. Philip was staying at the Sandringham, Norfolk, royal residence when he began to suffer chest pains.
Upon getting to the Cambridgeshire hospital, he was put through multiple tests at their cardio-thoracic unit. Following the exams, he underwent successful stenting and coronary angioplasty for a blocked coronary artery.
According to a Buckingham Palace spokesman, the Duke is doing good, however he will remain at the medical center for observation. The 90-year-old is known for being strong, in good health and active; this was certainly a shock to the royal family.
Recent visitors of the Duke of Edinburgh include Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Zara Phillips. In addition, Prince Andrew’s daughters Eugenie and Beatrice and the Princess Royal’s children Peter and Zara spent quality visiting their grandfather.
Prince Philip was unable to attend the Royal Family’s traditional Christmas morning service in Norfolk and the Boxing Day Hunt.
