Dan Goodwin, known as “Spider Dan,” was arrested for trespassing. Goodwin was also cited for Public Nuisance and trespassing. The Tower Climber scaled a complete 58-story skyscraper in downtown San Francisco, California.
Goodwin is an American building, rock, and sports climber originally from Kennebunkport, Maine. He currently resides in Lake Tahoe, California. The 54-year-old has been credited with climbing Chicago’s Sears Tower in Chicago, Illinois; Renaissance Tower Dallas, Texas; John Hancock Center Chicago, Illinois; Simon Bolivar Centre Caracas, Venezuela; Parque Central Complex Caracas, Venezuela; World Trade Center – North Tower New York, New York; Nippon Television Tower Tokyo, Japan; Bonaventure Hotel Los Angeles, California; CN Tower Toronto, Canada and now the Millennium Tower San Francisco, California.
The veteran climber used suction cups to scale the Millennium Tower. The tower is a 645-foot residential building overlooking San Bay. According to police, he ignored their orders to stop climbing. By the time that the San Francisco Fire Department arrived, ‘Spider Dan’ was out of their reach.
On Monday around 5:30 p.m., he reached the top of the sky scraper. It took him roughly three hours to scale. He surrendered to police after he affixed an American flag to the building. He was cited for public nuisance and trespassing.
