Saudi Man Facebook Sell Son 20 Million – After having his own debt-collection business shut down a Saudi Arabian man has attempted to sell his young son for the equivalent of 20 million american dollars so that he and his wife along with their other child, a daughter won’t have to live on poverty.
A local court shut down Saud bin Nasser Al Shahry’s business siting that it was operating illegally. So now, even though the sale of children in the country is considered illegal, Al Shahry looks to take advantage of the lack of human trafficking enforcement in his country.
In his Facebook ad for his son, Al Shahry, said the only thing he wanted, aside from 73 million EAU Dirhams, is that he would like to know which city the buyer would be located. He also indicated he would go to the courts to complete any paperwork that may be necessary to complete the sale.
Slavery in Saudi Arabia was only just eliminated in 1962, but little has been done to stop the human trafficking trade in the country since.
The US State Department states of Saudi Arabia, “The Government of Saudi Arabia does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking and is not making significant efforts to do so. The government continues to lack adequate anti-trafficking laws, and, despite evidence of widespread trafficking abuses, did not report any criminal prosecutions, convictions, or prison sentences for trafficking crimes committed against foreign domestic workers.”
