A survivor of the massive tornado that struck an Oklahoma City suburb found her dog buried alive under the rubble during her interview with CBS.
Standing amid the rubble, Barbara Garcia tells a CBS reporter how she survived the massive tornado that ripped apart houses and left at least 24 people dead.
She said she was holding her dog in her bathroom. “I felt the stool come up out of the floor…. I rolled around a little bit.”
“I hollered for my little dog and he didn’t answer; he didn’t come,” she said, gesturing to the rubble of her home. “I know he’s in here somewhere.”
Then, mid-interview, a member of the camera crew says, “The dog! The dog! Hi, puppy!”
An emotional Garcia asks for help getting the rubble off her pet, who staggers slowly out of the heap.
“I thought God just answered one prayer to let me be OK,” Garcia says, her voice shaking, “but he answered both of them.”
