Twitter Fidel Castro Death Rumor – Fidel Castro’s brother, Martin Castro has been attempting to squash a Twitter feed death rumor of the communist Cuban dictator.

Fidel is currently 85-years-old and has been the subject of death rumors since he started suffering from declining health issues in 2006 when he had a major intestinal surgery. Since then Fidel’s other brother, Raul, took over the dictatorship in Cuba.

Recently though, rumors ran ramped through the Twitter world that Fidel finally passed, which has been disputed by Martin saying, “It’s a lie, a big lie!.”

He told The Huffington Post, “He’s resting now. But he’s more or less fine.” adding that Fidel has basically been ordered by doctors to get bed rest.

Also posted on the official Cuban state website Wednesday was a message stating, “New lie against #FidelCastro fails on Twitter.” It also went on to say that Twitter has censored events in favor of the Cuban government in the past.

After leading a Cuban revolution Fidel Castro came into power in 1959. One of his first acts after taking over was to abolish elections in the then democratic government, fearing being voted out of power.

During his rule Castro has been recognized by some for his championing of anti-imperialism, humanitarianism, and environmentalism.
