Burger King has changed the recipe on their french fries to a “thicker cut” of potato. The company says it gives each bite a “more fluffy potato flavor on the inside” while it’s still crunchy on the outside. They are cooked in trans fat-free vegetable oil and have 20 percent less sodium than their predecessors.

There is also talk of a new ketchup condiment, but the details have not been released yet.

The new fries will be available starting Dec. 5. On Dec. 16, Burger King will serve up a free value-size order of the new fries — no purchase necessary.

Burger King is facing increasing competition from other burger chains that have entered the market, including Five Guys, In-N-Out Burger and Shula Burger, which is opening its first restaurant next week in Islamorada, to name a few.

Of course Burger King says it has the “best fries in the business.”

A lot of people don’t agree and would argue that McDonald’s has the best potatoes.

Wendy’s also re-vamped their fries making them crispier with sea salt.
