Another rumor about the Apple iPod and iPhone 5 release is out, which suggests a huge media event might be planned in September. It is also interesting to note that this rumor falls into the same pattern in previous launches.
For example, the iPods are usually announced in September. There have been a few rumors floating around that Apple would discontinue the iPod due to low sales. If that happens, the iPhone 5 might be a new all-in-one device, but there has been no indication out of Apple that this would happen.
Some industry observers suggest Apple, dominating both the global smart phone and tablet markets with its iPhone and iPad, wants to release its new iPhone in early September. Then they would release the new iPad in the late fall. Giving the company a knockout one-two punch into the holidays and to end the sales year.
A rumor on the new iPod indicates that it would have a new 1.3 megapixel camera. Though there was no indication of a discontinuation of the iPod. Apple could announce a cut back in production in the device with a coinciding release to the new iPhone. The iPod has been losing ground in the market to the iPhone, which combines the best of both devices into one. Apple themselves have not confirmed any rumors of release dates as of yet.By: Pat Prescott
