Constipation Killed Elvis

Constipation killed Elvis, according to one of his close friends and doctor. Dr. George Nichopoulos claims that Elvis Presley’s colon was nearly twice the size of the average person. Nichopoulos was a longtime friend and published a new book, “The King and Dr. Nick.”

“We weren’t sure [of the exact cause of death] so I continued to do some research,” Nichopoulos said in a statement. He was also the personal physician to the legendary singer. “I had some doctors call me from different places and different med schools that were doing research on constipation and different problems you can get into with it.”

Colon Size

Doctors said Elvis Presley died of a heart condition. Elvis’ colon was 5 to 6 inches in diameter, nearly twice the size of the average person. It was also 8 to 9 feet long, compared with the normal 4 to 5 feet.

Apparently Elvis was offered a colostomy operation but refused it. However, Dr. Nichopoulos said the operation was not regarded as acceptable treatment at the time. He also paints the final years of Elvis as quite tragic with frequent accidents on stage which meant he had to change his jump suit during performances.
