Staff from the Dr. Phil TV show posted bail for a central Florida teenager who was currently in jail after taking part in a videotaped beating of another teen.

TV Producers from the show were in the process of booking guests for a program about the case. However, a spokeswoman for TV host Dr. Phil McGraw says the employees went beyond the show’s guidelines by posting bonds.

“These staff members have been reprimanded and our policies reiterated. In addition, we have decided not to go forward with the story as our guidelines have been compromised,” a spokeswoman for Dr. Phil said.

The spokeswoman said that while the program has helped to provide financial aid for past guests to come on the show, the bail posting went too far. As a result, Dr. Phil is dropping the story from the television program.

Eight teenagers are accused of participating in a violent videotaped beating of another teen and making an Internet video of it.
