Amanda Bynes is planning to sue InTouch Weekly magazine over a spray tanning salon story that claims she wandered around a New York establishment completely naked in search of goggles to wear.
The recent story cited an unnamed eyewitness who said the former Nickelodeon star seemed “totally out of it” as she reportedly walked around the main lobby before returning to a private spray-tan room.
“She took her time walking back to the Mystic room, dragging her fingers along the wall and smiling at customers who passed her,” the eyewitness told the magazine. “There was definitely something wrong with her.”
Bynes insists the story is false. “I’m suing In Touch for printing a fake story,” she tells Us Weekly. “I’m not ‘troubled.’ I don’t get naked in public. I’m 26, a multi-millionaire, retired.”
Contradicting the InTouch account, a store employee told Us that Bynes, a frequent tanning customer, was “always polite” and usually just popped in and out.
Bynes has been pretty low-key lately. Despite a report in late September about her locking herself in a bakery restroom for 30 minutes to “fix her makeup,” the former child star has been on her best behavior in Manhattan, where she fled to after a string of fender benders in Los Angeles.
Still, a slew of troubles are waiting for her because Bynes has upcoming court dates for a DUI, two counts of hit-and-run, and two counts of driving on a suspended license. She has plead not guilty to all offenses.
