Amanda Peet is set for Togetherness, an HBO single-camera comedy written and directed by brothers Mark and Jay Duplass. It follows two couples living under the same roof who struggle to keep their relationships alive while pursuing their individual dreams. According to The Inquisitr, the Amanda Peet plays an energetic and beautiful woman who is fun, outgoing, mischievous and smart in both dress and brainpower.
Stephanie Langhoff of Duplass Brothers Productions will serve as co-executive producer. Peet is currently in the new big-screen hit “Identity Thief.” News of Amanda Peet’s Togetherness casting was first reported this week.
Amanda Peet also goes topless in Togetherness, which was revealed to reporters. She had a great sense of humor about it, but was asked how she kept the comedy going when you’re topless. She answered right away.
“I think it’s really vital to stay in a comic place if you’re going to take your clothes off at age 42 after you’ve breastfed two children,” she told the reporters. “Otherwise, it’s just tragic.”
While Peet’s character does seem to be fairly comfortable with nudity, she’s not the only one. The pilot features perhaps one of the worst TV comedy sex scenes of all time. We won’t give you too many details, but let’s just say it ends with raw meat resting on Brett’s nether regions — and he’s a hardcore vegan.
As Amanda Peet is ready for Togetherness on HBO, there are talks that Blythe Danner and Sarah Jessica Parker, who participated in a reading of the play, may join the production. On screen, Peet, repped by Gersh and Management 360, co-stars in boxoffice hit Identity Thief and has been recurring on CBS’ The Good Wife. At HBO, she joins Benioff.
Amanda Peet and her husband David Benioff welcomed their third child last month. The 42-year-old actress and her 44-year-old husband are the parents of a baby boy. Peet and Benioff have two daughters together Frances, seven, and four-year-old Molly.
In Togetherness, Amanda Peet plays Tina Morris. The story begins with Tina relocating from Houston to Los Angeles to move in with her sister Michelle Pierson (Melanie Lynskey) and her husband Brett, notes the Daily Mail. Also moving in with the Piersons is Brett’s friend Alex (Steve Zissis), a struggling, over-the-hill actor who had been left homeless. Peet’s casting comes on the heel of Manhattan Theater Club’s announcement last week that it will stage Peet’s first play, The Commons Of Pensacola, next season.
