Betty White Emmy For SNL Appearance

Betty White Emmy was for her Saturday Night Live guest host on NBC.

Betty White Emmy for SNL appearance. Receiving her fifth Emmy, Betty White won the ‘best guest actress in a comedy series’ for her SNL performance. In fact, the Emmy Award was a surprise, after loyal fans on Facebook asked NBC to ask Betty White as SNL host.

Earlier this spring, thousands of loyal fans campaigned on Facebook to get the “Golden Girls” actress on an SNL gig. Boy did it pay off for her. The show drew in nearly as many viewers as the 2008 election with around 12 million.

White did not attend Saturday’s Emmy celebration in Los Angeles to accept her award. This has prompted some speculation about the 88-year-old’s health. However, it could just be that she did not want to make that long trip all the way up to the stage.

Recently, White has enjoyed new success, and her appearance on any show guarantees a rating boost. Her most recent show is “Hot in Cleveland.” It features Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, and Wendie Malick as three past-their-prime entertainment industry veterans from Los Angeles whose lives are changed when their Paris-bound plane lands in Cleveland, Ohio. There they find a welcoming community that is less shallow, youth-obsessed and weight-conscious than L.A., and where one of them leases a home with a sassy caretaker played by White.
