Just months after telling me she wanted to return to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” for its third season, Kelsey Grammer’s ex-wife will not be back. But the question remains, was Camille given a pink slip or did she hit the road of her own accord?

“I was not fired,” Camille says in a statement released to The Huffington Post. “I didn’t want to expose my personal life so much anymore. I had done that and was over that. I care very much for my family and children and that show tends to take me away from them. I really want to focus on them right now.”

But Grammar told Us magazine that she may not have been the instigator in the decision after all.

“I can’t say too much at this moment, but we couldn’t get it worked out,” she told Us. “I love these girls, I really do. I’ve had so much fun with the franchise, but I guess the producers and I couldn’t come to an agreement.”

Grammer, 43, has already endured plenty of private drama in the public eye over the past two seasons.

In the first season, the former Playboy model’s 14-year marriage to husband Kelsey Grammer unraveled before TV cameras, and she’s had her share of spats with castmates Kyle Richards and Taylor Armstrong.

On season two, the drama shifted over to pal Armstrong, who revealed that her husband had physically abused her, and Grammer stayed out of the spotlight.

And now, according to E! News, the reality star is “ready for new challenges.”

“She’s in a great place in her life right now,” a source told People. “She’s grown a lot in this past year and she’s made some wonderful friendships (on the show). It has steered her life in a direction she never imagined.”

Grammer recently reached a settlement with her ex, 57, over custody of their two young children, Mason and Jude, and the reality star began dating new boyfriend Dimitri Charalambopoulos last October.

There has been no word yet who might replace Grammer on the show.
