Courteney Cox David Arquette. Courteney Cox opens up about her divorce from David Arquette to Harper’s Bazaar. The “Cougar Town” star still defends her ex-husband to this day.

Last fall, David Arquette told his side of the story regarding his split from his wife, Courteney Cox. And then he told it again. And then he told it a few more times.

But now Cox is presenting her perspective in her most in-depth interview since she and Arquette separated in June of last year.

“I think every relationship has a point where you stop and reevaluate. Are you happy? Have you grown together or apart? What do you share interests in?” she said in the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar. “I think that’s a normal thing to do, but it’s so much harder when it’s done publicly.”

It was Cox’s idea to try a trial separation after what she called “a moment of looking at our relationship.”

Though Arquette has said on more than one occasion that the actress was tired of being his “mother,” Cox contends that “there wasn’t anything in particular,” but the self-reflection “brought up a lot of stuff.”

The “Cougar Town” star, 46, even goes as far as defending 39-year-old Arquette, who, at best, came off in his interviews as a cheater and, at worst, as a drug- and booze-addicted partyer.

“He absolutely did nothing that wasn’t in the boundaries of what we set for our separation, so there’s nothing to judge,” Cox said of his post-split dalliance with waitress Jasmine Waltz. “I may not have known about it, but that’s the only difference.”
