Donald Trump, Jon Stewart Begins Birth Name War

Donald Trump is fed up with The Daily Show host Jon Stewart, stating the comedian is hiding from his past because he changed his surname from Lebowitz to Stewart.

It all happened between Twitter postings on Thursday came after the Comedy Central host joked that Trump, a leading voice in the Birther Movement, had a secret of his own and alleged the mogul’s real birth name was F**kface von Clownstick.

Trump was not amused by the insult and says that Stewart is the one who is actually hiding from his past, since the cable host has long been estranged from his birth father.

Stewart made fun of Trump during a segment on his Comedy Central show on May 1. The comedian was reporting on the meteoric rise of Sen. Ted Cruz (a Freshman Republican from Texas) and noted that since Cruz was born in Canada, he is not eligible to serve as president.

Since some Conservatives have questioned President Obama’s birth certificate, Stewart pointed out the irony that those same Conservatives could scrutinize Cruz’s birth records. Notable among those scoffers was Trump, who became a champion for the Birther Movement that claimed Obama wasn’t actually born in the United States and pressured Obama to release his birth certificate.

Trump slammed Stewart on Twitter for changing his name. Stewart did legally change his surname following years of estrangement from his birth father.

In his segment on the Texas Republican, Stewart suggested that Trump should get on the case.

“I know someone who could look into it,” Stewart stated, “Hey Donald, call the birther team back from Hawaii. We’re headed to Winnipeg.”

Stewart joked that Trump could be hiding secrets of his own.

“By the way, did you know Donald Trump’s birth name is F**kface von Clownstick?” he said.

“What’s he hiding?” the Daily Show host asked.

However, Trump didn’t find the jab amusing.

He took to Twitter to blast the Comedy Central star, calling him a “phony” and accused the entertainer of hiding his own past.

Stewart, whose original surname was Lebowitz, changed his last name in 2001 after he was married.

Stewart’s parents, Marian and Donald Lebowitz, were divorced when he was 11 and he has been estranged from his father for an unspecified period of time.

But Trump dug up the comedian’s past, tweeting, “If Jon Stewart is so above it all & legit, why did he change his name from Jonathan Leibowitz? He should be proud of his heritage!” The real estate mogul also said that Stewart was overrated.

We seem to have hit a F**kface Von Nervestick,” the Twitter account for Stewart’s show posted on Thursday.

“Can’t an overrated Jew have a complicated relationship with his dad without being accused of hiding his heritage?” the Daily Show Twitter feed asked in a posting, referencing Stewart’s strained relationship with his father.
