German pop star Nadja Benaissa admits HIV positive. German singer and pop star Nadja Benaissa admits she infected others with HIV. The German singer is facing a charge of grievous bodily harm for attempted aggravated assault.
Benaissa's trial is at the District Court of Darmstadt. The German pop singer will face a possible prison sentence of six months and 10 years. Benaissa has admitted to not handling the HIV virus properly, and admitted that she had unprotected sex with the men.
Pop singer told the court, "I am sorry with all my heart. I was careless during those days. In no way did I want my partner to be infected," Nadja Benaissa stated in front of the justices at the District Court of Darmstadt. According to prosecutors Benaissa has known she is HIV-positive since 1999. The plaintiff is a former lover of Benaissa and he was infected back in 2004 when he had unprotected sex with her.
The No Angels singer did not declare that she was HIV positive until 2009 at a AIDS charity gala in Berlin. Since the sexual act occurred when she was 17-years-old, Benaissa will appear before a juvenile court. The court heard she had had sexual intercourse with the three men up to five times between the years 2000 and 2004. The trial is expected to conclude before the end of this month.
