Giuliana Rancic Learns Of Breast Cancer During IVF

Giuliana Rancic has revealed she has breast cancer. The couple have chronicled their lives in their reality show where the have tried to have a baby. They have made several attempts in vitro fertilization, but the treatments have failed.

Thus far two attempts at getting pregnant had failed and they were shown going for a third in the season finale of the show. As a result of seeing the doctor, the couple were told of the cancer in the breast, and they were shocked. The E! television host told NBC's "Today" that her attempts to get pregnant, as detailed in their show with her property developer husband led to more unwelcome news from their doctor.

"Through my attempt to get pregnant for the third time though IVF, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer. It's been a shock ... A lot of people have been asking, 'We saw that you went and got IVF, so what happened? Are you pregnant?' But sadly, we've had to put that off," Rancic said.

The 36-year-old said that when they went to do the third round of IVF, a doctor said she needed a mammogram. She wasn't going to get one until she was 40, but he urged her. When she found out what he mammogram revealed, she said, "I couldn't believe it."

"I will be OK, because I found it early," Giuliana added.

In addition to her news anchoring duties, Giuliana Rancic often co-hosts red carpet events for award shows, such as the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. On March 13, 2006, she was joined E! News as host with Ryan Seacrest. She is the creator and executive producer of MTV's Celebrity Rap Superstar, which premiered in 2007.
