The Hangover 2 Earns Box Office Record

Hangover 2 Record - It’s a $31 million record for the box office as Hangover 2 soars to number one. The R-rated comedy also grossed $31.7 million it’s opening night on Thursday, for a cumulative $61.6 million in its first two days and is on track to gross $135 million in its first five days. Movie fans and critics have good things to say about the film.

“Kung Fu Panda 2″ earned an estimated $13.2 million on Friday and a cumulative $19 million from its two days in theaters. The 3D cartoon is expected to gross up to $70 million in its five-day debut. This Memorial Day weekend is gearing up to be one of the biggest box office weekends on record, if not the biggest.

Meanwhile, “The Hangover Part 2″ is looking like it will be the best-performing film of the year so far. In the movie, which is set for release during Memorial Day weekend, the four stars (Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha) travel to Thailand for Stu’s wedding. Helms plays the character who famously lost a tooth in the first film and ends up with the now infamous Maori-inspired face tattoo the eve of his wedding in the sequel.

The Hangover was filmed on a budget of $35 million. It was released in North America on June 5, 2009, becoming a critical and commercial success. It became the tenth highest-grossing film of 2009, with a worldwide gross of over $467 million. The film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and received multiple other accolades.
